The Skeleton Woman is an Inuit tale of healing, made more public by Women Who Run With the Wolves, the best-selling book by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. It describes a harrowing journey in which
the heroine is left for dead under the sea but is caught by a fisherman whose initial horror turns to compassion. This tale is very important to many women on their journeys.
In this lecture, Francoise Cloutier will use the tale to highlight deep insights on healing the abused feminine psyche (individual and collective); to describe ways of creating a true relationship to the other; and to explore the
essential role of relating (to oneself, to the body, to the other) in the process of healing.
